Rocky & Alexis Stocks
I'm married to Alexis, the most beautiful woman on the planet and mother to our four incredible kids. We were married in 1999 and have had wild adventures thus far. Born in Zimbabwe, I dropped out of school at the age of 15 before deciding to follow Jesus but didn't make him a priority until my early 20s. I later trained in social work, beginning a 16-year career working in NGOs and for the Ministry of Education with "at-risk" adolescents, as well as being involved in youth ministry for over 20 years.
For several years we felt God calling us to work full-time for Grace so we took the plunge in late 2011. After a few years of prayer and discerning, we took a step of faith to obey God's call on us to plant a church. We planted Grace Vineyard West in March 2019. I love movies, music and eating out. Watching sport, having a spa or sauna, spearfishing and walking along the beach are my idea of relaxing. We love a good curry and a glass of wine with friends, camping, board games, and playing cards.
We are passionate about church planting, growing and developing leaders, and seeing people become fully alive in Christ and released to use their gifts and strengths to help see God's Kingdom advance here amongst us.
I grew up in a non-Christian home here in Christchurch and came to faith as a 19-year-old at Eastercamp. Pre-kids, I worked as a social worker at a residential NGO. My husband Rocky and I have been at Grace since 2000. Currently, I have two roles at Grace Vineyard. I manage Strengthening Linwood Youth Trust, which provides youth workers to work in the local college and runs various programs in the surrounding Linwood community. Alongside that Rocky and I are the campus Pastors at West Campus. I love to spend time with family and friends, playing board games and camping. I long to see communities transformed as the local church rises up to be the hands and feet of Jesus, giving the opportunity for genuine encounters with the Holy Spirit.
