FREE FINANCIAL MENTORING/BUDGETING AND COMMUNITY CARE PROGRAMMES
Based in the Grace Vineyard Church in New Brighton and Philipstown, Compassion Trust is a non-profit charitable trust that serves families and individuals who are in need and living in the eastern suburbs. The Trust has been effective in working with the community in practical ways since 2002 and in 2012 established as a Budget Advice Service. Our team support clients with financial mentoring (budgeting), advocate with creditors to develop a management plan to reduce debt, assist with insolvency issues, and KiwiSaver hardship applications, run educational money courses and have 4 community care programmes:
1. Fortnightly community lunch at Beach Campus on Mondays starting at 12 noon
2. Coffee and Chat at Beach Campus every Wednesday from 8.30 am - 10.30am
3. Beach Vista Social Club at Beach Campus every Thursday in term time from 1.30 - 4pm
4. Gathering at Latimer Square every Friday night from 6 - 7pm for food and building relationships
When you combine hungry people in the community, the masses of quality, wasted food from cafes and eateries daily, and passionate people who want to get involved, something beautiful is bound to happen...
Based on the first Free Store that was founded in Wellington in 2010, and part of the Free Store Movement Aotearoa. The Kairos Free Store in Christchurch will be the first to open in the South Island - due to open our doors mid-2018. We are a non-profit, charitable organisation, run 100% by volunteers.
Our Mission: Is to create a space where anyone is welcome. To see food going into the hands of people who need, and creating friendships with those on the margins of society. Kairos Free Store is relational, not transactional. It's a space to come as you are - no questions asked.
A place where you can come fully as you are, with no stigma, no fear and no shame.
Strengthening Linwood Youth Trust is a relationship between Grace Vineyard, Linwood College and community funders.
It's all about connecting young people with Christian mentors and role models (youth workers) to build positive relationships, develop leadership, encourage a vibrant school spirit and give them an opportunity to be a part of our invasion youth group.
Based at Grace Vineyard Beach Campus, Youth Alive has served thousands of children and young people in New Brighton since it was established in 1989. Its vision is about building bright futures with young people in New Brighton through practical Christian service.
Funded through a range of funding organisations, contracts, and individual giving, it has grown and adapted to meet changing community needs. Currently, ten programmes and services are provided to the community.
