This is a project to run a prayer house and retreat Center for Jinja city and surrounding district.
Partners: Rivers of Life Global Ministries, local churches around Jinja, Local Community Based Organisations and Non Governmental Organisations, other contributors
Summary: the prayer house was established in a rented building in 2022 as a place for prayer, worship and training in encountering the Lord and stepping out in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. There is a team in place who run prayer encounter sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays as well as weekends and up to one weeklong retreats for church and community groups.
Resource: NZ$180 per month for rent of the prayer house
NZ$1000 for a 3-5 day retreat for 20 - 30 people from different community groups (children, youth, women, adults) The focus for the retreat will differ depending on the group.
During the next year we want to hold at least 6 retreats:
- Children
- Youth
- Disabled Young Adults
- Women recovering from a life as street workers
- Women raising a family on their own
- Another children/youth retreat
Future Development: The leadership group are working towards having 24/7 worship and prayer and adding training and retreats to this.
The site is currently rented but should the opportunity to purchase the site come up, the group would like to purchase the plot. It is thought that NZ$130,000-$140,000 would be needed to purchase the site.
The site is also being developed for other conferences and parties. Under development is a garden to grow food and a catering business.
