Victor is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, but he was forced to flee the war in 1996. In 2001, as he was passing through Mozambique, God stopped him in his tracks, through an evangelistic meeting with a YWAM outreach team. He did his Discipleship Training School in Quelimane, Mozambique in 2001 and joined YWAM Niassa that same year. His wife, Laurie, is a MK from Honduras who came to Niassa, Mozambique in 2003 to serve in long-term missions. They met and married in April of 2006. God has blessed them with 5 children, 3 girls, and 2 boys.
In 2015, the Lord led them, together with a team of 3 other families, to move to Nampula to pioneer a training base. Their vision is to see lives transformed by the proclamation of the Gospel in northern Mozambique. They want to see Mozambican believers raised up, trained, and sent out to reach the unreached communities, especially the Muslim communities in northern Mozambique. Since 2015, 241 students -- singles and families -- have come through the Discipleship Training School in Nampula. By God's grace, over 1/4 of these are now serving the Lord in full-time missionary service. Almost 1/2 are serving in leadership in their local churches back in their communities. A couple of teams have been sent out long-term to unreached communities to begin Disciple Making Movements there. Another 3 teams are preparing to move to other unreached communities in the north.
The vision has grown to also include kids' camps, sports outreach, and the establishment of a Christian preschool and in a few years, a Christian primary school to raise up a strong new generation in the Lord's ways.
As a Church we have supported the Selemane family through the building of their new school project and sponsorship of an Evangelist who is reaching the young men through football.
